Getting Better All The Time...

In addition to the 3,117 students who graduated from Yale on Monday, the University honored a Beatle among 8 recipients of honorary degrees.

"At Commencement on Monday, Sir Paul McCartney was awarded a doctorate of music for nothing short of his "musical genius," as his award citation explained it. "Your songs awakened a generation, giving a fresh sound to rock, roll, rhythm and blues," University President Richard Levin told McCartney. "Here, there and everywhere, you have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics. Sir Paul — who received his degree to a rendition of "Hey Jude" — was treated to a very much expected standing ovation when he shook Levin's hand. "

aww...he looks so cute and ready for the real world...proud of ya, Paul

ALSO, besides getting the musical doctorate, Paul had the oppurtunity to show off (for the official first time), his new girlfriend, the American millionaire, Nancy Shevell. I actually think they make a nice looking couple.

"Couldn't get much worse..."

The Movement You Need Is On Your Shoulder

THREE's a crowd?

After hearing that there were more people to greet The Beatles in Australia than there were to the Queen, George Harrison said, "Well, she didn't have any hit records..."

I sat belonely

Makes you feel like hugging, does old Ringo...

Three Cool Cats

I love these!

When John lived with his Aunt Mimi they always had lots of cats..and when he was older and lived with his wife, Cyn- they continued the tradition. I've read that he had a cat called Major and another called Minor. very cute.

I dont know if Paul actually owned any of these he was pictured with- but he once named a litter of his kittens Jesus, Mary and Joseph--

I'm Looking Through You

Possibly one of the coolest guitars. Paul can be seen playing it in the video for the Band on the Run hit, 'Helen Wheels'.

Ciggies of Sir Paul

The Beatles are one of the few who actually look good smoking. To me, their ciggies never fail to charm and impress...very hot...especially Paul in these:

One of the best scenes in Help!:
and what's under that Wrigley's, Paul? haha

Still Smokin'...

hahahha

46 years ago today...

"On the morning of May 9, 1962, Beatles manager Brian Epstein first met Parlophone Records producer George Martin at his office in EMI Studios at Abbey Road in London. It was during this meeting that George Martin agreed to give The Beatles an audition recording session." It is impossible to imagine The Beatles without the guidance and safety net of Brian Epstein (good ol' Eppy), and the musical instruction and influence of their hands-on producer, Sir George Martin. Brian sadly died of an accidental overdose in 1967, and it seems the band began their downfall after that. But luckily, Sir George lives on, still contributing to their forever-young legend. Together with his son, Giles Martin, they complied the Beatles' latest album, LOVE (made to accompany the Cirque Du Soleil act). The Martins won two Grammys for it.

I love Paul in this one. Totally taking over the scene...
This was in their first recording session at Abbey Road in 1962. There and then, they recorded their first album -Please Please Me- in only 585 minutes (9 hrs 45mins). It went straight to number one and remained there for 30 WEEKS.

SUCH a cool idea of John's for their last album...they only used it in the 90s for their Blue and Red albums though...

Things we said today; Comparisons

A fun little making I found on another blog...weird how Paul's walking almost exactly the same...the young one is from the Paperback Writer/Rain video shoot in 1966 and the recent one is from 2007.

This one I made because again, he is almost in the exact same position...the left is from (I think) the 80s or late 70s and the right is from 1967. He looks good on both, actually...

Dhani Harrison and James McCartney in 2007 to dads George Harrison and Paul McCartney in 1966. I find it amazing how James' face is perfectly similar to Paul's usual experssions..I always say he should grow his hair and paint it black just to freak the world out. haha.. and there is absolutely NO mistaking who Dhani's father is...
