Needless to say, Mad Day Out was an EPIC photoshoot. (The real reason behind it was that the lads were tired of seeing themselves in the papers as either moptops or flower-powered hippies - this was their new "1968" image: elegant, more grown up and they wanted to show it.

HOWEVER, I do feel that that is not necessarily a joyous date to 'celebrate' with a post and so I'd much prefer to have a dedication to John on this wondrous day that is Dec 25, Christmas - also known Xmas or Crimble.

OK..i know I have recently not really been taking care to uploading new pics here...but i was under a lot of stress and for lack of time, i couldnt do anything about it. However, I am now on holidays and hope to continue with this Beatle-madness!

Story of Peggy Lipton that I just found....can you imagine this happening to you? i mean, its not really a huge deal but it did spark an eventual affair between her and our Paul!

... I'm very suddenly curious about this book- its called "Breathing Out" and also tells of her fling with Elvis and tough times during the late 60s and early 70s.

She was the beautiful undercover cop on TV's "The Mod Squad.” Peggy Lipton became a cultural icon on that hit show back in the 60s. But what very few knew was that behind that golden image was a woman living a life a lot darker and wilder than even her crime-fighting alter ego. Read an excerpt from her book, “Breathing Out,” below.

Meeting Paul
I arrived at the party wearing a pink silk skirt and my mother's Emilio Pucci checkered Jersey top and little heels. I just walked in and pretended to be very blase', like I wasn't about to expire with every step. Well, I am an actress, so I said, "Peggy, imagine you're a very composed, cool character who Is not in the least inhibited by all these famous people and what's about to unfold." It worked. I began snaking my way through the crowds that had gathered on the lawn In anticipation of greeting the world's most alluring popstars. I found myself talking to people. It was better than chewing on the inside of my mouth, which by now I couldn't stop doing. I talked to everyone ... anyone I met. The lovely Eva Marie Saint said hello and told me that she thought I resembled her! I felt extremely flattered. Enough to momentarily drop my raison d'etre--then it all hit me again. I'm going to see him. My heart was ready to burst open with my secret. I'd just have to stay cool for a little while longer.

I started aimlessly floating around. I could no longer concentrate on talking to people. I don't know where they were or where he was, but I was feeling it, believe me. Without warning, the four of them appeared, sitting on high wooden stools under a big tree. Someone politely announced that children should come forward now and say hello. To my dismay I saw a line forming-a line of little kids! They were all so small-their moms sending them off with tears in their eyes. I was obviously not a kid but a woman towering ridiculously over them in my slick Pucci getup. The only thing I had in common with those kids was that we'd all been outfitted by our mothers. Sweating rivers through my clothes, I was feeling somewhat humiliated but unerring in my determination. The whole year of longing culminated in this moment. Adolescence was over forever. I was in line to meet the Beatles.

The Fab Four under a tree. They looked cute. Just like the photos I had strewn across the walls of my bedroom. But I knew they weren't the cuddly mop tops they were pretending to be. You knew that when you got up close. John's twisted smile, for one thing, suggested a lot of strange thoughts could be going on in his head. Ringo, sporting a huge grin, seemed utterly bemused and nonchalant about it all. George was wiry and agile, adjusting his body to shake as many of the little hands as he could. I watched Paul. It felt like he was doing a sort of music-hall soft shoe routine for the crowd.

He was being a showman, a carny The nice one who could engage the multitudes. I didn't know if I'd be able to talk when my turn came. What was there to say? My mind went completely blank.

Okay, so John greeted me first, then George took my hand. I hardly remember them. Paul was the one I was watching and my heart was pounding too loud, sounding like thunder in my ears. "Look, Peggy," I said, trying to get a grip on myself. "He's being really sweet with these kids." I was admiring that while he was looking down and patting them on the head. All of a sudden I felt him looking at me and it was a totally different look. It was filled with promise and sexuality and I was stunned.

"Come on, Peggy, you can do it. Shake hands!" Earl was shouting as he was photographing me. I was embarrassed. "Please stop, Earl," I thought. But this was a great moment for him, too. He actually saw his diligent work paying off. I wanted Paul at that moment as much as I had ever wanted anything in my life. I came face to face with him.

"Hello' " I said, and he shook my hand and looked at me.

"My god, you're beautiful," he said.

"You're not so bad yourself," I replied, like an idiot. A year in the planning and that was all I could come up with?

My knees under the pink silk skirt buckled. I was madly in love with Paul McCartney, or should I say even more madly in love-knowing full well that disaster lay ahead. How could it be otherwise? Every woman wanted Paul.

"Well, move on. Next person," said a disembodied voice from hell. I went to the next person who was George Harrison or whomever. I couldn't have cared less. I had made the connection. Paul had looked at me with his puppy dog, long-lashed, beautiful eyes and that was it. Paul moved on with his conversation and charmed the next fan in line.

Ringo joins: 47 years ago today!

This August 14 is the 47th anniversary of Ringo Starr's joining The Beatles. In 1962, Brian Epstein called him up and gave him a total of three days to come up with an answer to his offer- Ringo accepted (obviously), leaving behind his drumming with Rory Storm & The Hurricanes and joining our boys! (thereby giving poor Pete Bet the boot) And thank God he did!

I often get angry at people underestimating Ringo's performance and importance within the Beatles career -- I recently read a really cute quote by George, saying

* "Playing without Ringo is like driving a car with three wheels."

OMG that is just too cute.

Also, what I read elsewhere and found interesting was that Ringo gave the band a bit of a cool edge, or twist. The three other members having pretty boring Catholic names like John, Paul and George and in comes our RINGO STARR. And how cool does that look? Also, he came from Dingle in Liverpool (tough area) and was involved in gangs and stuff - in those days, a cool feature in the eyes of our young lads...not to mention him driving a Zephyr Zodiac and having a beard! haha

AND for the last one, this is probably my all-time FAVE Ringo pic! I absolutely adore his face in this one..

IT’s official. Paul McCartney was a heartbreaker – even when he was just 10-years-old.

A former classmate today revealed how the girls would gather to giggle whenever the ex-Beatle passed them on his school bus.

Bernice Humphries, 67, was stunned to spot herself with McCartney in this photograph.

The recently uncovered image shows the former Joseph Williams junior school pupils at a children’s birthday party.

It will be auctioned later in the month.

Mrs Humphries, of Tarbock Green, Huyton, admits she was an early fan.

She said: “I was amazed when I saw the picture in the ECHO. I don’t remember it being taken. It was supposedly from a party in Childwall, but I don’t remember us ever going there.

“The houses look more like the ones in Western Avenue, Speke, where Paul lived at the time.”

She said McCartney’s talent was obvious even at school.

“Whenever we had our Christmas pantomime Paul had the lead role. He had a gorgeous voice even then.”

The two went to separate senior schools – Bernice to Aigburth Vale High School and Paul to Liverpool Institute – but the young McCartney was far from forgotten.

Mrs Humphries, then Bernice Stenton, said: “We all had a crush on Paul. His bus would come past ours in Aigburth Vale and you know what girls are like. We’d all be giggling and saying ‘There’s Paul, there’s Paul.’

“I’ll never forget the first time I saw the Beatles perform on the television. I thought that’s Paul McCartney... and it was.”

Yes, I know I am indeed late, but I didn't have internet access on Saturday (the actual anniversary) - so let's just make do with Monday, peeps...

Well, while searching the web I found this really great and not excessively long tribute to the cover pic that I thought was really nice - here it is: (from examiner.com)

The walk. The crossing. The stroll. The legend.

Call it what you will, but it'd be silly to try and get terribly profound about what the cover shoot of "Abbey Road" all means 40 years later.

So how's this: Why did the Beatles cross the road?

Because it was there.

Certainly, it's become one of their trademarks. It's everywhere. Who could have guessed a few simple steps and a few photos by Iain McMillan would become such a big thing?

If we were conspiracy theorists, we could drop hints about the major clues in the picture that helped fuel the "Paul Is Dead" hoax. The "28 IF" license plate. Paul's bare feet.

But it's just a picture. Well, maybe not just a picture. It's spurned zillons of imitations, both on albums and in person each day on the real Abbey Road.

And it's really the album, more than the picture. An incredible album at that.

The picture (and the album), though, did accomplish at least one thing: It made the street and the studio named after it a household name. Sort of like the guys who recorded said album.

They did it in the road. Those few small steps for four men gave us one giant legend for mankind. Happy 40th.

This is actually only the poster advertising the Dallas date, but... Paul will soon be venturing around Dallas, NY, Boston, Tulsa and of course, Halifax.

I really like this poster and even though I dont live in the US, im really excited about this tour because it means many many hours of brand new Macca youtube vids! ALSO Paul will be on the David Letterman show on Wednesday (the same theater where the '64 Ed Sullivan Show took place!) I absolutely adore Letterman and even more so of course, Paul!

Today marks the 52nd year since Ivan Vaughan introduced Paul McCartney to his friend John Lennon at a Quarrymen performance at the Woolton Village Fete in Liverpool in 1957.

Recently, there's been an amazing artistic representation of this meeting called 'The Introduction' by Eric Cash and I think it looks incredible!(It was based on numerous accounts of people who were actually there, so its pretty accurate) Anyway, here it is:

OMG each day i get more and more freaked out by just how much James looks like Paul! It's pretty amazing...I honestly think he should let his hair grow and dye it black just to freak everyone out for a while. But it seems like he has that 'i dont wanna live in the image of my famous father' attitude going on, which is probably why he chooses to keep his head shaven. Dont reeeeally blame him for wanting to be recognized in his own right, but still... come on!

Just take a look at the following James expressions to notice the incredible similarity...

So, here's something I'm very excited about:

Macca's Meat-Free Mondays!

Apparently, it's been shown on a number of UN reports that the meat industry is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the world's electricity and trasport together. Now, as questionable as that may seem, coming from the UN, I'd say its safe to believe.

These pics come from DailyMail.co.uk, [where the full article is present], describing the launch Paul, Stella, Mary and James hosted in London's St. James Park. Many veggie and meat-eating celebs were there including Yoko, Moby, kelly Osbourne and Kate Bosworth. (Other supporters of MFM that couldn't attend include Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Kevin Spacey).

Elton John in Beatle company

Just a collection of random occasions in which Elton John(who I absolutely adore) was in company of a Beatle...he was actually particularly close to John and there's a fun story he tells about when they performed together in 1974 at MSG. What happened was that after they had recorded 'Whatever Gets You Thru The Night', Elton predicted it would be a hit, John disagreed and they made a bet saying that if it reached #1 in the charts, John would have to join Elton onstage. Of course, it did and he did. What also shows they were very close is the fact that Elton once said John was the only musician he admired and that he wrote 'Empty Garden' for him, right after he died.

OMG I just found this pic of John and I thought it was sooooo gorgeous that I just decided to post the other ones I had only of John- he really did look great that day. Anyway, this first one is the one I found yesterday and the others I've had for a while already.

[BTW- relooking at this first one, i think its not at Shea, because he wasn't wearing his famous cap then and the sheriff star is missing from his left pocket...so this one was probably taken at the '65 NME Poll Winner's concert...sexy all the same, though]

Those of you who have read Barry Miles' Paul McCartney book, "Many Years From Now", know that Andy Warhol once came to a swingin' get together at Paul's London home on Cavendish Avenue and they all sat on bean bags and watched a movie of his called Empire- which basically films the Empire State Building all day long...

Paul said thank god they were on to smoking pot at the time, because the film was really boring.

btw, for those of you you haven't read this book, its reeeeeally amazing! filled with like little secrets and stuff...I obviously loved it.

I wasnt actually looking to download Lennon bootlegs, but since I really got into the covers of the Macca ones, I just started looking at all the covers...(I especially love the ones with John as Gripweed from 'How I Won The War'...I might dedicate a post to him in the near future, i think he looks absolutely gorgeous..)

Paul's Grammy shirt

Being nominated for 2 Grammys this year, (unfortunately no wins), Paul wore this awesome shirt designed by his daughter Stella for Comic Relief and on it, is a Beatle pic taken by Linda at the party for Sgt Pepper held at Brian Epstein's house in 1967. I really really wanted to order this shirt for myself, but they only deliver to the UK..I was so pissed....I thought the Beatles in red noses idea was adorable!
Anyway

And here are just some cute pics of Paul and Nancy at their first row seats at the Grammy ceremony itself...lovin the display of affection by Nancy - (still waiting for an official kiss pic!)

So I just thought I'd dedicate an upload to some pics of Jenny Boyd, sister of gorgeous model Pattie Boyd (Georgie's girl), who was also a model and a great one at that. In later years, she worked in the Beatles' Apple Boutique on Baker Street - around the time when she accompanied the boys on their 1968 trip to Rishikesh, India, to the Maharishi's ashram which is also where she inspired the beautiful Donovan song, Jennifer Juniper. (he was hopelessly in love with her - but she eventually married Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac)

BY THE WAY: speaking of Pattie and Jenny Boyd, to anyone who hasnt yet read Pattie's 2007 book, Wonderful Today, I'd *seriously* recommend it! I really really loved it and i lent it to a friend of mine who also adored it...In addition to being an autobiography of an incredible life, it's also great for letting us fans into Pattie's marriage with George and why it all eventually fell apart...excellent!
